New Holland are a leading manufacturer of tractors for the Agricultural sector. Part of the Case New Holland Group (a division of Fiat) they have been manufacturing in Basildon for over fifty years. They are one of the few World Class Manufacturing (WCM) sites in the UK and have won a raft of industry best factory awards.
The site employs over 800 people and exports around 90% of the tractors it manufactures to over 120 countries worldwide. New Holland believe that manufacturing excellence has been achieved through a concerted plant-wide effort to put continuous improvement at the forefront of everything they do. To maximise productivity and ensure the operation is as lean as possible, each process is measured, monitored and quality tested. This desire to adapt and maximize the productivity of the plant has manifested itself in a deep attention to detail. Over the past five years they have achieved over £15 million worth of savings through noise reduction, waste reduction, cleanliness and efficiency and they have an ambition to make the site ear protector free.
Being part of a global company they work closely with plants all over the world, sharing ideas and innovation, maximising training and driving improvements at a global level. This commitment to world class manufacturing and continuous improvement has ensured an engaged and productive team and a site that has been recognised as one of the best in the country, if not the world.
With a focus on the environment, New Holland have radically improved the sustainability and environmental impact of the plant, they have also focused on improvements to their product to reduce emissions and improve energy utilisation.
New Holland is also influential in its devotion to improving Basildon and the surrounding area. They have placed a huge emphasis on apprenticeships and have an ongoing partnership with the Pioneer School, an educational facility for children suffering from learning disabilities.
