Jaguar Land Rover is the UKs largest automotive employer, with a world class team of nearly 24,000 people. In the 2011/12 fiscal year, JLR achieved record profits of £1.5 billion an increase of £392 million over the previous year. It is the UK\’s largest automotive manufacturing business built around two iconic British car brands with a rich heritage and powerful consumer appeal and loyalty.
The Halewood Operations is home to the Land Rover Freelander 2 and Land Rover Evoque. It has a reputation for excellent manufacturing quality and is recognised throughout the industry as a centre of excellence for Lean Manufacturing.
The Halewood site is currently celebrating 50 years of operation and employs approximately 4,500 people on three shifts, 24 hours a day.
In the first year of production of the Land Rover Evoque Halewood produced a record 100,000 vehicles. In May this year the site also celebrated the production of the 300,000th Land Rover Freelander 2 which began production in October 2006.
The size of the workforce is currently the highest it has been for 20 years. As well as creating jobs, the ongoing global success of the company means it continues to have a positive economic impact in the North West and throughout the UK supply chain.
This company visit covers the Lean journey undertaken by Jaguar Land Rover and specific activities such as policy deployment, standard operating procedures and the JLR Production system.
The visit includes a comprehensive tour of the manufacturing plant, covering the Body Assembly line and final trim assembly line. Presentations are undertaken on the line to allow you to see first hand how they have achieved world class standards.
